DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Seeking an experienced banking attorney to serve as 1egal advisor and subject matter expert to support the bank�s operations. Following is a summary of the essential functions of this job position. Specific activities may change from time to time.
Provide legal support to management and various business units.
Advise on the legal and regulatory implications of bank policies, products, services, and courses of action.
Advise on legal issues affecting deposit and savings accounts, including power of attorney, decedent accounts, garnishments, receiverships, and other legal process.
Provide legal support and guidance to commercial and consumer lines of business and internal credit, compliance, risk and operational partners on a wide range of complex issues relating to loans, including loan structure, authority issues related to loan parties, applicable loan documentation, regulatory requirements, collateral and intercreditor issues, and closing and post-closing servicing matters.
Manage and review agreements with external vendors, ensuring compliance, monitoring performance, and negotiating terms.
Responsible for identifying and assessing legal risk, providing legal advice, and/or assisting in resolving and/or escalating matters which may present potential exposure to the company.
Keep current with and review legislation, regulations, and case law developments that affect the bank�s activities and provide advice and guidance to the impacted lines of business and other stakeholders.
Supervise outside counsel.
Draft and review legal documents.
Serve as an individual contributor but may provide direction, supervision and assistance to other legal staff on transactions or projects as well as working in an integrated manner as part of a larger team on strategic projects.
Build and refine policies, standards and other guidance materials for all bank departments.
QUALIFICATIONS
4-9 years of experience practicing in a law firm or financial corporate legal department.
Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school with active bar membership in Texas and ability to gain admission to Oklahoma bar.
Possess superior written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to prioritize matters, utilize time management skills, and move between matters fluidly.
Able to work autonomously without close supervision.
Team-oriented mentality and excellent interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products.
Experience or related training in the financial services industry or a related legal specialty, such as employment matters, real estate, trusts and estates, compliance, secured transactions, and real estate or corporate finance.
