The Vermont Department of Corrections is seeking a qualified and experienced attorney to serve as General Counsel. This position provides legal advice and representation on a broad range of correctional issues, including litigation, policy development, and compliance with state and federal laws. The General Counsel reports directly to the Commissioner of Corrections and plays a key role in guiding the Department’s legal and strategic decisions.Â

Candidates should have a strong background in public sector or corrections-related law.Â
