This role will serve as the organization’s trusted advisor on all legal, compliance, and risk matters, ensuring we operate with efficiency, integrity, and strong governance.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contract Management & Review: Draft, review, and negotiate vendor, customer, and real estate agreements, ensuring business terms align with company interests and risk is mitigated.
  • Litigation & Dispute Resolution: Manage litigious employee matters, commercial disputes, and claims, working closely with outside counsel when necessary.
  • Regulatory & Compliance: Oversee all federal, state, and local regulatory filings (DMV, DOT, OSHA, FTC, EEOC, Secretary of State, etc.), monitor evolving requirements, and ensure policies remain compliant.
  • Employment Law & HR Support: Work with outside counsel to advise on sensitive employee relations issues, separations, workplace investigations, and policy development.
  • Insurance & Risk Management: Lead insurance claims management with outside counsel (property, liability, workers’ comp), coordinate with carriers, and support risk prevention strategies.
  • Property Tax & Real Estate: Work with outside counsel to manage property tax filings, disputes, appeals, and lawsuits across multiple locations; support leases, acquisitions, and other real estate transactions.
  • Corporate Governance: Support executive leadership with compliance matters, entity maintenance, and internal governance processes.
  • Draft, review, and maintain corporate governance documents, including minutes, partnership agreements, and organizational records, and ensure company archives and legal records are accurate, current, and well organized.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Skills and Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school; licensed and in good standing with the Texas State Bar.
  • Recent graduates encouraged to apply. Experience in the automotive, dealership, transportation, or manufacturing industry a plus.
  • Knowledge of employment law, contract law, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with insurance claims and property tax matters preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance risk with business objectives, offering pragmatic solutions.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.


Working Conditions

  • Primarily office environment with frequent use of computers, phones, and standard office equipment.
  • May require travel to dealership locations, court proceedings, government agencies, or meetings with external counsel.
  • Regular business hours with occasional evening or weekend work required to meet deadlines or address urgent legal matters.
  • Work involves handling confidential and sensitive information with a high level of discretion.
  • Position requires the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.


Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex legal documents, regulations, and contracts.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and via written correspondence.
  • Occasional standing, walking, and lifting up to 10 pounds (such as files, binders, or office materials).
  • Ability to travel occasionally between dealership locations, courts, or external meetings.
  • Visual acuity to review printed and electronic documents.
  • Ability to maintain focus and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.


Salary Description
$150,000/annum
