Job Description
As the General Counsel, you will provide comprehensive legal support for our organization. You will be responsible for overseeing all legal matters, including but not limited to contracts, employee relations, corporate governance, and tax-related issues. You will serve as a trusted advisor to the executive team, ensuring that all legal practices align with our business objectives and ethical standards.
Key Responsibilities: - Provide expert legal advice on a wide range of issues, including contracts, employment law, corporate governance, and compliance matters.
- Draft, review, and negotiate various contracts and agreements to protect the company’s interests.
- Advise on and manage employee relations matters, including employment agreements, disputes, and compliance with labor laws.
- Oversee corporate governance and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Advise on tax-related matters and coordinate with external tax advisors to address tax compliance and strategy.
- Represent the company in legal proceedings and negotiations, liaising with outside counsel as necessary.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to mitigate legal risks and maintain compliance.
- Stay informed of industry trends and changes in legislation that may impact the company.
- Conduct legal training sessions for employees to promote understanding of legal obligations and risks.
Qualifications: - Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in California.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a corporate legal department or law firm, with a focus on contracts, employment law, and corporate governance.
- Strong understanding of corporate, tax, and labor laws.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and concisely.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
