ROLE SUMMARY:
The position is part of the Marketing, Innovation, Sales, and Licensing legal group within the Anheuser-Busch U.S. Legal Department and directly supports Anheuser-Busch's commercial strategy.
The attorney will be the main legal contact for Anheuser-Busch Sales team members in assigned geographic regions. They will handle a wide variety of matters involving application of federal and state alcohol beverage laws and regulations, provide advice on issues involving the distribution of our products in the three-tier system, and advise the company’s commercial team on various forms of brand promotions. The right candidate should have a deep desire to learn and grow professionally and a drive to work collaboratively with legal team colleagues and commercial clients to creatively solve complex legal and commercial challenges.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Trusted advisor and collaborator with the Anheuser-Busch Region Sales teams on commercial agreements, regulatory compliance, and distribution under federal and state law
Serve as internal resource and subject matter expert on alcohol beverage laws, including trade practice rules, for states within assigned geographic regions
Advise business on state and federal alcohol beverage license issues to advance commercial objectives
Review and clear commercial activations and any associated contracts for compliance with federal and state regulations, industry codes, and company policies
Collaborate with brand teams and other region attorneys for multi-state advertising and marketing campaigns
Assist with litigation on distribution issues
Review proposed legislation to advise on potential impacts to the business
Provide practical and actionable advice on complex regulatory matters
Direct, evaluate, and manage the work of external counsel and other external partners
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
J.D. from accredited law school
Licensed to practice law and a member in good standing of a state bar
2-5 years of experience in a corporate law department or law firm
Administrative (TTB, FTC, FDA, FCC) law or litigation experience a plus
Food or alcohol beverage industry experience a plus
Ability to distill complex legal issues into practical, actionable legal advice
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including PowerPoint development and presentations
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate well with others
Motivated to learn continuously and expand practice area to meet changing business environment and needs of company
Consistently able to prioritize and manage a large volume of files
Ability to manage projects autonomously with strong organization skills
Proficiency in the latest technologies and a desire to learn emerging technologies
